“League of Legends” Game Turned Into A Dare Game to Death

The advance technology of our generation has lead into great advantages for online gaming. Games like Defense of the Ancients (DOTA) and League of Legends is an example of the most influential online games around the world.

We love the challenge of the game, but for some people, they take it to the next level to make it more challenging. And for one young boy, he accepted the challenge that he never thought would be the end of his young life.

Gustavo Detter, 13, from São Vicente, on the coast of São Paulo, Brazil was playing League of Legends with his friends. And just like other players who loved to take a step further to get the game more exciting, they made a “choking challenge” to whoever is responsible for losing the game. The challenge was that the losing player had to stop the flow of air with their hands or objects to induce fainting, dizziness or state of euphoria.

Just when you know it, Detter was the “it” for the choking game challenge. His friends thought he fainted and called his cousin nearby and when his cousin rushed in,he was found on his father’s room with a coiled rope around his neck and in front of the computer. He was taken into the Municipal Hospital but died within 24 hours.

According to the police report, the boy was playing with three others when the hanging took place. The scene may have been witnessed over webcam in real time by the other players. Yes, it was a live death show for the rest of his friends.

Parents are unaware of the fact that there is danger in online games aside from just being addicted and spending long hours of playing. They must always guide their children and look out for any alarming signs that may lead your son or daughter to a dangerous act just because of a stupid bet made in an online game.

Online gaming can be fun and exciting, most people meet new friends along the way. But parents should always be alert and must guide them in order to keep them safe from horrible outcomes of online gaming.
