“Your Name”: The Outstanding Anime Film of 2016!

Warning: Major Spoilers ahead!

Kimi No Na Wa or “Your Name” anime film is the best animated film of 2016, no need to look out for what other movies are ahead of us. The film is inspired by a novel of the same name written by Makoto Shinkai that was released on June 18, 2016. Hands down! I have never cried like a baby as far as Studio Ghibli films and this one. If you haven’t watched Kimi No Na Wa, you have missed an outstanding anime film that have touched the hearts of the people around the world.

Mitsuha, a high school girl living in the countryside, wants to live in the city because she is tired of life in the country. Then, there’s Taki. He’s a high school student living in Tokyo with his friends while working as a part-timer at an Italian restaurant. A comet appears in the sky of Japan after thousand of years, Mitsuha and Taka (who never met each other) dreams of switching their bodies and changes their lives forever.

Mitsuha: Is this… Could this be…
Taki: Could this be that we’re really…
M: In our dreams, that guy and I are…
T: In our dreams, that girl and I are…
Together: Switching places?!

The simplicity of each scene is just breathtaking to watch, every single detail is spot on, and the authenticity of how realistic each emotion it brings to the audience will leave you speechless. A little jokes will make you laugh and the next thing you know, you’re in for a ride of feels and cry like everyone else.

Kimi No Na Wa has won a lot of awards, its still under the blockbuster list of Japan even after a couple of weeks since its first movie release, and it was speculated to be given a chance for a nomination in the Oscar Awards in US.

I definitely give a two thumbs-up for all the brilliant minds that created this movie. As of October 15, the total domestic gross of the film reached 15,414,488,300 yen after 52 days at the box office, selling a total of 11,842,864 tickets. How’s that for the best animated film of 2016?
