You must have lost all hopes of seeing Evangelion back on your television screens after the epic failure of the Evangelion 3.0 movie.Evangelion 3.0 movie was coldly-received by fans that the sequel was stopped and put into hiatus of almost 4 years.
However, even after the failure of Evangelion 3.0, fans are still eagerly waiting for the fourth part of the remake to one of the most unforgettable classic anime of all time.
Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno has stated that he is ready to start making the fourth and final movie of the Eva quarter after finishing his duties in the new Godzilla film. He was the one who directly made the announcement and also apologized to their fans for the delay. The announcement and apology happened during the press event for the latest movie, Godzilla : Resurgence (which will be released in Japan very soon).
“First of all, I would like to apologize. I have kept you waiting for the new Evangelion for a very, very long time. I am deeply sorry,” he said.“To me, Evangelion is my soul; it is a work that scrapes off bits of my soul. The previous work, Evangelion Shin Gekijōban: Q [Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (NOT) Redo], scraped me down until I wasn’t able to make anything anymore,” he added.
He also stated that the project of Godzilla: Resurgence movie allowed him to take abreak from the stress and disappointment, thus it gave him enough time to thoroughly decide what to do for the final installment of Evangelion.
“At that time, I went into talks with Toho, and it saved me. I think this is how I’m able to keep making Evangelion. However, since it is a fact that I’m making everyone wait, I deeply apologize for that,” he reiterated.

The first movie “Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (NOT) Alone” was released in 2007, and the second one was “Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (NOT) Advance” was released on 2009. The first two movies was a huge hit to fans but the third one “Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (NOT) Redo” which was released in 2012 did not have the same path from the first ones.
The final move for the Evangelion movie franchise will be the definitive title which will determine the future if the remake will be a total success or a failure.
