Soccer, football, tennis, baseball, swimming, cycling and basketball..These list of sports is what we mostly see on anime adaptations, and I have to admit that sports anime looks much better and exciting than real ones( no offense) but I’m not a very big fan of it except for Slam Dunk. And as years go by, most of the sports anime being aired on our televisions are just the same especially on basketball. So its no surprise for some fans to lose interest on these types of anime since the story line or the plot are just the same.
But don’t lose hope, because this coming Fall season, the sports anime world have something new to offer on the table and its one sport you never expected coming, Rugby. Yes, it will be the very first rugby anime ever made!
The November issue of Kodansha’s Morning Two magazine is announcing on September 22 that a television anime adaptation of Shiori Amase’s rugby manga “ALL OUT!!” has been green-lit for next year. The magazine also notes that Kodansha will ship the manga’s seventh compiled book volume on September 23. The issue will feature a color opening page for the manga. The anime adaptation “All Out!” is said to have 25 episodes.
The story takes place in Kanagawa Prefectural High School. Kenji Gion, a short first year high school student, meets the tall and timid Sumiaki Iwashimizu during a game of rugby. Because of their common interests, they form a rugby club and begin a friendship. However, their heights become an issue as the unlikely pair finds themselves often mismatched.
This type of sport is becoming popular over the past few years and the anime adaptation of it would give the Rugby sport a new way to introduce it to this generation. I am a little excited about it since it is the very first Rugby sports anime ever. Not everyone is a sports anime fan but why not give it a try and see where it takes you, either it will drag you up to become a fan of sports anime or drag you down to not even taking time to give another look at it ever again. Who knows right? We will have to see this coming fall season of 2016.
